Những thay đổi trong bảng xếp hạng mới của Global Beauties
Everything in the world evolves, even beauty pageants (to a certain extent). New pageants with extravagant productions have come to life lately, but yet, they are still very far from stealing the spotlight from the two most outstanding and traditional contests: Miss World and Miss Universe.
After talking to pageant directors, experts in the area and beauty queens themselves, GlobalBeauties.com came to the (obvious) conclusion that the two greatest pageants, or the G2 (Miss World and Miss Universe), as they shall be called from now on, cannot be placed on the same level of others, even if some of those, like Miss International, Miss Tourism Queen, Miss Supranational, and Miss Earth, are part of the Grand Slam (deservingly so), a concept brought to international pageantsby GlobalBeauties.com over a decade ago.
Comparing international pageants to an airplane, we could say that Miss World and Miss Universe are on the 1st class; International, Tourism Queen, Supranational and Earth are on the Business class; and then, finally, come all the others in the Economy class (Premium, Flex, Promo, or Body-pass, or perhaps even on a bus, depending on the event…).
The Grand Prix pageants certainly deserve to be classified as Grand Slam competitions, however, it is undeniable that they fall into a lower category when compared to Miss World and Miss Universe, the two pageants which are most watched around the planet, have by far the most extensive media coverage, and have candidates who are the winners of the best national pageants around. That without speaking of over 6 decades of tradition and high popularity.
For example: was it fair to see countries like South Africa, Colombia, and Jamaica, which have historically sent very competitive candidates to Miss World and/or Miss Universe, which conversely, have been barely noticed in most other Grand Slam pageants, to fall behind in the ranking? We have arrived at the conclusion that countries’ performances and achievements in Miss World and Miss Universe can tell much more about the quality of candidates and national pageants than if all 6 put together, which ended up being deceiving.
Nonetheless, the other fours Grand Slam pageants also deserve to have their own ranking, after all, they are clearly above all others ‘traveling in the economy class’. So from now on, GlobalBeauties.com will publish and update two rankings: the G2 Ranking and the Grand Prix ranking.
All 6 will be put together only to determine the “Country of the Year”, with points earned in Miss World and Miss Universe being multiplied by two, as it has always been done.
Changes will put to effect starting now. A new point system has also been adopted, and you can learned more about it HERE.
Take a tour of the all revamped GRAND SLAM RANKINGS section.
To manage it in a fair way, we have decided to create two sub-categories within the Grand Slam:
- The G2, with Miss World and Miss Universe;
- And the Grand Prix, with Miss International, Miss Tourism Queen International, Miss Supranational, and Miss Earth.

Re: Những thay đổi trong bảng xếp hạng mới của Global Beauties
Grand Slam Ranking
The Grand Slam of Beauty Pageants, created by Global Beauties in 1999, comprehends six of the world’s
beauty pageants. They are divided into two categories:
THE G2
These are the two most traditional beauty contests on the planet. Over 98% of high quality national pageants send their winners to compete in one or the other, or even to both. They are also by far the most watched beauty competition on the globe and the most publicized. Miss World and Miss Universe are the two Grand Slam winners who are often seen in a variety of activities throughout their year of reign. They also offer the best cash prizes and career opportunities to their winners.
-Miss World: Founded in 1951 by Eric Morley in the United Kingdom. It is the largest international beauty pageant in the world, with around 120 contestants competing for the title every year and watched live in over 150 countries and territories. Presently it is headed by Julia Morley.
-Miss Universe: Founded in 1952 by Catalina Swimwear in Long Beach, California. The pageant, now in its 61st year, is a shared partnership between Donald Trump and NBC/Universal. It is watched live in over 60 countries and territories around the globe.
THE GRAND PRIX
Four high quality pageant productions, some very traditional, like Miss International, which was founded in
1960, others recently born, like Miss Supranational and Miss Tourism Queen, all with a considerable amount of participating countries and territories mostly chosen from the runner-ups of Miss World / Universe national pageants, or even in less expressive national pageants (especially Miss Earth’s). Although most of them have had some extravagant productions, when compared to the G2, they still lack in consistency, quality of contestants, television audience and media exposure. All four are unquestionably above hundreds of other international beauty competitions, but still way bellow the G2 (World and Universe).
-Miss International: Born in Long Beach, California, in 1960. Since 1968, it is property of Japan’s International Cultural Association (Kokusai Bunka Kyokai). It’s central office is located in Tokyo.
-Miss Earth: Created in 2001 by Carousel Productions, which used to organize the Miss Asia Pacific competition, Miss Earth has recently entered its second decade of existence. Environmental protection is its official cause.
-Miss Tourism Queen International: The trademark was created in 1949 by Charlie See. In 2004 it was bought by Alex Liu of ERM and started being produced in China. This competition aims to promote tourism through beauty and welcomes countries, territories and islands/regions of tourist interest.
-Miss Supranational: Property of the World Beauty Association (WBA), it has been held in Poland since 2009 with extravagant television productions.

Re: Những thay đổi trong bảng xếp hạng mới của Global Beauties
The Grand Slam Rankings Procedure
The procedure for both the G2 and Grand Prix rankings is the same. Consider the following for each pageant’s edition:
- The G2 Ranking comprises participant countries in Miss World and Miss Universe only;
- The Grand Prix Ranking comprises participant countries in Miss International, Miss Tourism Queen International, Miss Supranational and Miss Earth;
- The winning country in each pageant earns 40 + 80 bonus points, totaling 120 points;
- The country placing 2nd earns 39 + 50 bonus points, totaling 89 points;
- The country placing 3rd earns 38 + 30 bonus points, totaling 68 points;
- The country placing 4th earns 37 points, 5th earns 36 points, 6th earns 35 points, and so on, up to an eventual 40th place, earning 1 point. The bonuses are distributed as following:
a) finalists = + 20 bonus points;
b) semi-finalists = +10 bonus points;
c) quarter-finalists = no bonus points earned.
- When exact rankings are not released or made public, a point-average will prevail to score the involved countries;
- Special awards are worth 1 point each (Miss World fast-track events are not included in this category) ;
- Points earned by each country / territory in a given pageant are multiplied 1.XXX (number of participant countries in that pageant). For example, if 89 countries participated in Miss Universe 2011, then the number of points earned by scoring nations shall be multiplied by 1.089;
- Points of G2 and Grand Prix pageants are put together only to determine the “Country of the Year”. When it is the case, points earned by countries in Miss World and Miss Universe are multiplied by 2.

THE GRAND PRIX
