GB's Final Review of Miss Universe 2012
The Magnificent 6: Will any of these women be crowned Miss Universe 2012?
GB has divided the 89
candidates into 5 different groups, depending on their favoritism level,
in our opinion. We don’t know whether we are right or wrong. We just
want to share with you our very personal views on what might
happen tonight, or what we believe should happen tonight. Unfortunately
(or fortunately!) we do not have a crystal ball. The actual outcome of
Miss Universe 2012, only God knows! Enjoy it:
The ones to beat
One of these 6 women should be the next
Miss Universe. Six beauties who have conquered the pageant ever since
their arrival and in all competitions. Four of them have brought very
passionate comments and fights from fans in our website. It is indeed,
one of the most difficult years when it comes to choosing a winner.
Australia is very well groomed, poised, unaffected and has a great overall presence, just like the recent delegates from her country; Paraguay is impressive, experienced and has a stage command that attracts attention; Philippines,
what can we say, “Miriam Quiambao 2.0″ is ready for the crown. She was
not supported upon winning her national title and now her countrymen are
crazy in love for her.
Puerto Rico‘s Bodine
Koehler suffered the same fate, acccused of being Dutch and
Dominican but not Puerto Rican, she has proven she’d do what it takes
for her island of Puerto Rico, and wouldn’t be surprised to see her
crowned; South Africa‘s Melinda Bam, one of the biggest
favorites came to this competition to win and it showed. It definitely
showed. Will the crown go back to this country after 34 years?
And finally we have all around Venezuela, Irene Esser, who has conquered the audience with her bubbly personality and smile, amazing TV register and beauty.
Strong candidates
Brazil – Chile – Croatia –
Ecuador- El Salvador- Finland – France – Georgia - Guyana – Kosovo –
Malaysia – Mexico – Netherlands – New Zealand – USA
These are contestants who have made their mark during the pageant’s duration. Expect them to be at least, semi-finalists.
Brazil, not the biggest
favorite all around but did an excellent job in the preliminary show,
also brought comments accusing us of ‘Brazilian bias’ (GB is not all
Brazilian). Chile, an absolute doll, model-like, beautiful face, the best Chilean in years, should definitely place; Croatia has her fans, with a beautiful face and all around elegance; Ecuador, very badly groomed in prelims but with an undeniable beauty, we expect to see her shine tonight; El Salvador also did an amazing job in the show. Very quiet, very subtle but very pretty; Finland would be a nice surprise, beautiful skin, different look; France is as charming and sweet and beautiful like the usual representative for her country, it won’t be surprising if she places.
Georgia is the best
this country has sent since they started participating in 2004. Our
Supermodel of the Universe should be a shoo-in for Top 16; Guyana
is an all around classic beauty, and no, her fall was not what put her
on top, she was already being noticed by fans, she could place; Kosovo, despite not having that ‘fierce energy’ most fans demand, is a dead ringer for Catherine Zeta and could might as well place; Malaysia could make justice for last year’s Deborah Henry exclusion; she is beautiful, with a nice aura and is very well prepared.
Mexico started in our
top 5 but after preliminaries she lost a few notches due to a
questionable gown presentation. She has looked better and can definitely
look better. She has a perfect face and will be up there; Netherlands with her experience, classic beauty and poise is not one to be overlooked; New Zealand
is about to finally end her country’s 20-year drought, with a face and
presence to be taken in account; and finally the gorgeous gorgeous Miss USA,
with a gazillion dollar face, a gazillion-watt smile and all around
charisma, presentation show was not her best night but she knows how to
shine and when to.
Fair possibilities
Aruba – Bahamas – Bolivia –
Cayman Islands – Colombia – Czech Republic – Guatemala – India – Ireland
– Lebanon -Lithuania – Panama – Russia – Spain – St. Lucia – Sri Lanka –
Switzerland – Thailand – Trinidad & Tobago – Ukraine -Vietnam
Some of these girls could definitely make the Top without anybody being surprised. Russia,
for instance, has her fans; she was in Miss World and lacked energy and
enthusiasm, in here is another story. Some say her placement would be
due to the vodka sponsor, from Russia; Ukraine is never
a girl to let loose due to Oleksandra Nikolayenko’s (former Miss
Ukraine and national director) ties with the MUO; her girls are
beautiful and have been doing well. Anastasia hasn’t shined as expected
but she could well enter the group.
Aruba did very well, tall, beautiful, not the best gown presentation but still contending; Bahamas has an amazing presence and uniqueness about her; Bolivia is very photogenic, very classic beauty; Cayman Islands also has her fans, who bet she will make the semis, exotic beautiful girl; Colombia
started in our leaderboard as semi-finalist, after presentation show
she lost many points, but she is a pro and knows how to play the game so
she could be there; Czech Republic, not as brilliant as expected could be a possibility for Trump; Guatemala did a very nice job and is noticeable so she might pull it off; India, as usual, did very welll in interview; Ireland has excellent modeling and photography skills which help on stage; Lebanon is tall, beautiful but didn’t seem to be so enthusiastic during the preliminary.
Lithuania could place as it’s the first time this country comes to Miss Universe; Panama
is a well-rounded competitor with very good interview and a great
swimsuit body; but her questionable gown choice might cost her points,
if she places we hope she changes it; Spain arrived as favorite but she is the delegate who ‘is trying too hard’, if she is just herself she will do well; St. Lucia very well received, very interesting beauty; Sri Lanka is also one who got fans after prelims, some say she is in the 16; Thailand
has presence, beauty and lobby; still we don’t know if that is enough
for her to make it but it won’t be surprising. Never underestimate a
Miss Trinidad & Tobago so Avionne could have played her cards right; and Vietnam, who made our first leaderboard and didn’t stand out as expected but is still in the game with her beauty.
Dark Horses
Albania – Angola – Argentina
– Belgium – Bulgaria – China – Curacao – Denmark - Dominican Republic –
Gabon-Germany – Ghana – Greece – Haiti – Honduras – Hungary – Indonesia
- Israel – Italy – Jamaica – Japan – Korea – Montenegro – Namibia –
Nicaragua – Norway – Peru – Poland- Romania – Serbia – Singapore –
Slovak Republic – Sweden – Tanzania – Uruguay
Remember Hungary placing in 2006 and
2008? ? Or Switzerland in the Top 10 of 2009? Right, Miss Universe
always reserves some shocking surprises for its audience, so do not
faint if one of the girls in this group go on in the competition.
Angola looks good in gown and has Leila
Lopes’ precedent; Argentina undeniable stage presence; China is very
well groomed and Curacao has experience; Denmark is so not the pageant
betty is likeable; Dominican Republic has a certain flair, Gabon is
debuting, Germany has an amazing personality, Ghana the black Ali
Landry, Greece beautiful, Hungary with a doll-face, Indonesia is doing
everything to place, Israel tall and beautiful blonde, Jamaica with
great presence, bubbly Japan, Peru and her model skills, Poland’s
beauty, we can go on….
Long shots
Botswana – British Virgin
Islands – Canada – Costa Rica – Cyprus – Estonia – Ethiopia – Great
Britain – Guam – Mauritius – Nigeria – Turkey
Never try to guess what will come out of
a beauty pageant judge’s mind, so there’s always hope for everyone in
this group as well! They for instance, might have nailed their
interviews with the preliminary judges. With such a competitive group we
have to rank them, as we have been judges ourselves; some fans would
like to give the award to all, but its impossible.
Wrapping it up
In the end of the day, winning or
losing, placing or not, all candidates will go back home where they are
queens already, something nobody can take away from them.
Global Beauties congratulates all of
them for their efforts, for doing the best they could do, for being
amazing representatives of their nations. All 89 know what winning is,
and we hope the 88 who will learn what losing is tonight, do it with
grace and elegance, after all, only one lucky woman will forever be
referred as Miss Universe 2012.
Best of luck to all!
