Leila Lopes: “Miss Universe 2012 will not be in New York”

After the recent rumors by Colombian networks about the possible cancellation the Miss Universe 2012 pageant (which according to the MUO are false and unfounded), news outlets and pageant fanatics are having a field day making up bogus press releases, editing the Wikipedia page or creating even more rumors about this year’s venue.

The latest in a series of fake news involves a newspaper report stating that New York City is hosting the competition in December.

However, reigning Miss Universe Leila Lopes has clarified -via twitter- that New York City will NOT host this year’s competition. But the date has been confirmed: Tuesday, December 11th.

At this point it is uncertain when the Miss Universe Organization will release the official news.

This article states that Lopes confirmed the Miss Universe 2012 pageant
would be held in New York City. However, Lopes claimed these news are
false and that the competition will NOT be held there.
