New York: Mayor Edward Koch is surrounded by pulchritude as Deborah Carthy-Deu (L), Miss Universe 1985, and Laura Martinez-Herring, Miss USA '85, plant kisses on his mayoral cheeks during a ceremony at City Hall 7/24. The two beauty winners were officially welcomed by hizzoner [verbatim! lol] as residents of New York City, the Big apple. both girls hold silver apples to commemorate the occasion.

Laura Martinez-Herring, Miss USA, is the first Mexican-American and naturalized US citizen to win the title.
