Looking Back: The 2008 Miss Universe Presentation Show

When the Miss Universe pageantis shown on television, the biggest percentage of the audience witnesses the competition between the 15 lucky ladies who were able to advance to the semi final stage. A handful of fans is able to see all the ladies compete, but it is not something that is usually available to the general public.

The 2008 event was held in Nha Trang, Vietnam, at the Beauty Crown Theater: A 7500-seat building made specially for the contest. It was held at 8:00 in the morning, and it was won by the absolute favorite: Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela, even though the 1st runner-up, Taliana Vargas of Colombia, gave a magnificent performance in a close race for the crown.

Close favorites, such as India, Puerto
Rico and Panama, failed to advance to the Top 15 Semi Finalists, but the actual group put up a good competition. It was also the year where the audience met one of today’s biggest superstars: Lady Gaga!
