Gown review in miss universe 2009

1) Australia:Beautiful gown, quite appropriate. She had the FACE OF THE PAGEANT, especially when she smiled. What a mesmerizing girl! But some people say that wedding cake of a gown didn’t do her any favors. I still think she carried it well.



2) Venezuela: I couldn’t decide. In Prelims, it was definitely a ketchup bottle with pizza earrings and a meatball on her head. Everyone hated it! For finals, she cleaned up her look somewhat. She looked beautiful, although still deciding to go with the ketchup gown. However, I also think she looked like Beauty and the Beast’s “Babette”, the sexy feather duster. For a Miss Venezuela, it was very, very risky!




3) South Africa: Talk about tossing a piece of paper into the trash! She had a spectacular white gown she wore for the charity ball; instead of that, she opted for this wrinkled light green number which didn’t do her any favors. She definitely had - along with France - the best runway skills of the pageant. But oh dear, some ironing would have helped… big time!



4) Dominican Republic: Ada was stunning, tall, beautiful, but that color? It kind of brought her down, though she carried it extremely well. The fabric looked harsh and the flowers reminiscent of any old brook coming out of any mountain refuse strean.



5) Kosovo: Beautiful gown, but wrinkled (or was that the style?). This Cher look-alike changed her hairstyle for this portion, so she decided to put a box of Chinese takeout on her head… as homage - or as some fans said - to Audrey Hepburn. Audrey Hepburn? What are you people smoking? Maybe I’m just too young. I still think she looked like Cher.



6) Czech Republic:I did not know what to think about this gown (Pasquale told me, think “KILLER BUTTERFLY!” LOL), I guess it looked like one. Oh, it was also horribly wrinkled. I was more drawn to the fact that Miss Czech Republic looked exactly like Blythe Danner (famous stafe and film actress and Gwyneth Paltrow’s mom). What was up with the country singer hair!! P.S. Blythe Danner is in her 60s. Not a good thing!



7) Switzerland: Not much to say on this one, except that her lemon popsicle gown looked out of place and I can’t believe the hairstylists didn’t care enough to notice that her hair extensions were poorly adjusted. Or maybe….they did? All over the place!




8 ) Puerto Rico: Oy, not that the gown was bad, because it wasn’t but it was certainly NOT HER COLOR! You do NOT put bubble gum pink on a girl whose complexion is Spring-like. Plus, it reminded me of some motel shower curtains you find in Eastern Europe.



9) USA: Miss USA decided to go back to Americana and pay a tribute to Agnes Moorehead, known as Bewitched’s “Endora”. Same outfit!! I can say I was impressed with the Endora-ish fabric and use of it. However, I think Kristen looked more like Jean Smart (Charlene in Designing Women) in this portion. Not a compliment, BTW! Why do Miss USA’s look worse in Universe than when they won USA? P.S. More wrinkles… (in the gown, not Miss USA’s)



10) France: Oh! My! God! This woman is HOT!! That gown was definitely a 10 in my book. Silver, shiny, fitted like a glove, she could not have looked more spectacular. Way impressive! Of course, since it was so beautiful, the judges hated it and gave it a 8.65, throwing Miss France under the bus into 6th place (France has not made the Top 5 since the 50’s!). Funny that?

only Australia,Czech and France gown impressed me..wish USA wore the gown she wore for Presentation.........Puerto Rico gown wasnt ugly but not THAT for a beauty pageant, look so normal, nothing stand out......Kosovo gowns just looks like she was wearing a curtain behind her business clothes, Swizerland gown just looked like something a girl would wear to prom not for a beauty pageant, South Africa it does look pretty but like the review said, it just look liked a paper wrinkled, Venezuela, a red broom !!! Dominican Republic, a flower garden being attacked by worm !!!

all of them were ugly though...only my girl's gown looked freaking cool...no word for that gown...go go go go go go chi Y...

Maybe the reason why stefania win as missuniverse 2009 because her beauty is like hollywood star.......and certainly she carried her gown well........
